The challenge
The talent has never been in question. The opportunity has.
Research shows that girls aren’t falling out of love with sport. They’re being pushed out of it:
The hope:
64% of girls want to be more active. Fun and friendship are the strongest motivators.
Creating opportunities that matter
We understand that for many schools, ambition isn’t the issue. It’s access, confidence and support.
That’s why every Edwin Doran tour is designed to break down barriers:
- Encouraging participation at every level, from development squads to elite teams
- Delivering well-matched, inclusive competition, because fair fixtures build confidence rather than fear of judgement
- Creating environments where girls feel supported, valued and free to perform
- Building confidence, independence and leadership that last long after the final whistle
Every tour is built to ensure girls don’t just take part. They thrive.
Inspiring confidence through experience
Research tells us that fun and friendship are what keep girls in sport. We weave both into every itinerary, alongside the competition, so the memories made on tour become the reason girls keep playing.
Our commitment in action
Our focus on girls in sport isn’t just a message. It’s already a core part of what we deliver:
- In Summer 2025, we saw an almost equal split of girls and boys travelling on our Summer South Africa tours
- We organised over 350 girls’ fixtures, a huge increase on previous years
This reflects both the growing demand for girls’ sport and our commitment to meeting it to the highest standard.
What schools say
From our team
“Having been involved in sport from a young age, I understand first-hand the confidence and opportunities it can create. I was fortunate enough to travel on an Edwin Doran tour to Malta when I was 17, and it’s an experience that has stayed with me ever since.
Now, as an Operations Manager, I am incredibly proud to be part of a team that is so committed to supporting girls in sport.
Seeing the impact these tours have on confidence, friendships and future opportunities makes what we do genuinely special.”
– Beth Vermont, Operations Manager, Edwin Doran Sports Tours
