Peter Hodcroft

I joined Gullivers in 2006 after 33½ years the Royal Air Force.  During my military career, I enjoyed 28 seasons as a player and official within Services cricket, culminating in Chairmanship of the RAF Cricket Association. I also organised 7 overseas tours – including ‘escorting’ the RAF Ladies Team to Queensland in 2003 and managing the 2005 Combined Services visit to New Zealand.

I have been ‘hooked’ on cricket since the age of three when, on my father’s knee, I saw Jim Laker take his 10-56 in the Ashes at Old Trafford.  A few years’ later, I bowled out Fred Trueman in the nets, in the days when spectators were allowed to assist in pre-play practice.  I am also a fully qualified umpire and have been lucky enough to officiate at international venues during military tours to the Antipodes, Asia, and the Caribbean.

My role within Gullivers allows me to combine my passion for cricket with the opportunity to travel to watch the game in some delightful surroundings. Whilst my primary task is to propose cricket tours for schools, clubs and universities, I am also able to utilise my previous experience when we are approached by military clients – and, so far, these disciplines have included judo, netball, rowing, squash, table tennis, volleyball, water polo and wave-riding.  Since 2009, I have been responsible for providing the logistics to support the MCC’s overseas tours – given that their ‘ambassadorial’ role can take them to ‘emerging cricketing nations’, an atlas is sometimes required before commencing local research…!

I have also been fortunate enough to be Tour Manager of numerous Gullivers’ cricket supporters’ tours over the years, and I have really enjoyed accompanying our clients to Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, New Zealand, and South Africa.

I look forward to the next challenge!
