It's essential to train well and eat well during pre-season training if you want to reach peak fitness in time for your first league match. Here are our pre-season prerequisites all coaches should look for when planning for the season ahead...

Hosted by Mark Ronnie Regan and James Simpson-Daniel, the Château du Molay offers excellent coaching with experienced rugby professionals. Our Irish academy, at the University of Limerick (UoL), is supported by IRFU qualified coaches and is currently home of Munster RFC.

With a purpose built grass rugby pitch and on-site scrummage machines locally available the Château offers an idyllic rugby training environment. For those looking for state of the art facilities, the UoL offers Europe's largest bank of artificial 3G pitches as well as grass pitches perfect for rugby sessions in the summer months.

Conditioning sessions are locally available at Château du Molay, while the UoL provides access to the Arena Gym and National Strength and Conditioning Centre.

Add in an educational element to your rugby pre-season at the Château soaking up the culture and history of Normandy. Highlights include the Bayeux Tapestry’s story in stitch, D-Day history at Arromanches and the Gothic Benedictine abbey on Mont Saint-Michel. Go Karting, bowling and other excursions are also close by. In Ireland, the UoL boasts its own activity centre offering: windsurfing, canoeing and mountain biking.

Pool recovery sessions

Pool recovery session is perfect for helping to restoring mobility into the exercised limbs after a rugby coaching session. Dive into the outdoor pool (heated) at Château du Molay. or take advantage of the National 50m swimming pool at the UoL and combine easy swimming with active stretching for the perfect recovery exercise following training and games.

Competitive fixtures

Rugby fixtures against local opposition can be arranged in Ireland whereas inter-squad games against other rugby teams can be organised subject to compatible age groups at our pre-season event in France.
