We're proud to be celebrating 40 years as market leaders in school sports travel.
Launched in 1974 as one of the first operators of its kind, we quickly established ourselves as the leading brand in school sports travel around the world and have worked hard to maintain our reputation as a preferred travel partner for schools to worldwide destinations.
History
Edwin Doran founded the company after escaping the bureaucracy of the insurance business for the freedom and opportunities of the rapidly expanding world of travel. He injected his passion for sport into the new enterprise that’s a defining feature of our organisation to this day.
Rugby Travel Twickenham
Those of you old enough to remember may know us as our founding name ‘Rugby Travel Twickenham’, based on Twickenham High Street, Greater London. Since its inception Rugby Travel Twickenham grew rapidly and the name evolved to what it is now know as: ‘Edwin Doran Sports Tours.’ In 2008 Edwin Doran Sports Tours was acquired by TUI Travel PLC where it now sits within the Sports Division.
As a thriving organisation we have taken more teams on tour than any other sports tour operator - over 12,000 at the last count. We have toured 47 countries over six continents.
Rosslyn Park National School Sevens
In true style we went back to our rugby roots and launched our birthday celebrations at the Rosslyn Park National School Sevens, the biggest schools rugby tournament in the world, and an event at which we are key sponsors. Teachers, tour leaders and partners enjoyed a week of our event hospitality. Curry, supplied by Moiduls of Teddington, and Cakes from the Sweet Revenge Bakery of Kingston were complemented with wine from Edwin Doran Family Vinters.
