Tour Operator

Since graduating from Southampton University with a degree in English Literature, I have worked mainly in the travel industry. I spent five years at Condé Nast Traveller magazine (four working as the Promotions Copy Editor) before taking an adult gap year, travelling through South America, New Zealand, Australia and Asia. On my return, I embarked on a freelance career and spent the next 12 years managing projects and writing copy for a wide variety of magazines and travel brands.

I have always loved sport. At school I played pretty much everything; at university, I played 1st team netball and I still hit the court most Saturdays (despite often finding I’m now twice the age of my opponent!). I have a non-playing love of rugby and cricket and have been an Associate Member of the MCC since my early twenties. I also have good knowledge of football (mainly courtesy of watching my 11-year-old son play, listening to his Chelsea chat and being forced to join his fantasy league). Sporting highlights include being at the Oval on the last day of the 2005 Ashes; watching a 20/20 India vs Sri Lanka in Colombo and finally getting to Dublin for England vs Ireland in the Six Nations.

With a cricket-obsessed husband and three kids (two of whom are already sports mad) I spend a lot of my ‘spare’ time on the side of a football or cricket pitch and doing the gymnastics run. Working for Edwin Doran and Gullivers combines my two passions of sport and travel. I never toured as a kid, but I think it’s an amazing life experience for children and my inner Germaine Greer would particularly love to see more girls travelling the world on sports tours.
