In the narrowest of finishes last Sunday, 8th July, Shrewsbury School beat Brentwood College School (Canada) by only 1ft, in a time of 6:54, to lift the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, despite Brentwood College School having led at the Barrier and Fawley. The Princess Elizabeth, a coxed eight race, is open to under-19's representing their school.
The other junior competition at the annual regatta, held over a course of 1 mile 550 yards on the River Thames at Henley, is the Fawley Challenge Cup, open to coxless four crews. This year's winners were a crew made up from Henley Rowing Club and Maidenhead Rowing Club, who beat Peterborough City Rowing Club and Star Club easily, in a time of 7:35.
