TORONTO is an ethnically diverse city. During the 60's, it was the first classic example of a city becoming populated by emigrants who set up individual enclaves like Chinatown, Little Italy, and Greektown.
The world's tallest free-standing structure, the CN Tower is the defining feature of Toronto's lakefront skyline. There is also a collection of entertainment attractions at the base of the tower, including two motion simulator rides, and a short documentary film describing the feat of engineering undertaken to build this colossal structure.
At the Skydome you could watch the Argonauts play football (Canadian) and the Blue Jays play baseball, whilst The Eaton Centre can offer visitor 320 shops and 17 cinemas!
No visit to Toronto is complete without a visit to Niagara Falls, about two hours south of the city. NIAGARA FALLS is one of the most popular tourist destinations in North America, made up of the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and American Falls on the USA side. Although not the highest waterfall in the world (that record goes to the Angel Falls in Venezuela), they move a staggering volume of 168,000 cubic metres (219,600 cubic yards) of water per minute over a drop of 51m (167ft), making them one of the natural wonders of the world.
There are countless other leisure attractions in Niagara Falls as you would expect from any major tourist destination.
OTTAWA sits on the south bank of the Ottawa River, with the gently rolling Gatineau Hills of Quebec visible in the distance. Five million tourists visit the capital of Canada every year to see the abundance of museums and cultural activities that are on offer, and during the summer months, you can see the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, aka the Mounties. Ottawa is a fairly sedate city, but the streets are wide and clean, with fresh, clean air and an 'outdoorsy' feel to it. Easily reached across the river lies Hull, noted for its nightlife and good restaurants.
