Tobago is a mere 26 miles long by 7 miles wide, and when sugar failed in the late 19th century, this plantation island was annexed to Trinidad for political convenience. Now almost exclusively relying on tourism, the abundance of white sandy beaches and natural beauty offers plenty for visitors and locals alike.
The capital, Scarborough, has many quaint houses which spill down from the hilltop to the waterside. It is overshadowed by the Fort King George built in 1779 during the many struggles between the French and the English, and is an excellent point from which to view the sunset.
