We viewed a wide variety of sports facilities on all the islands visited. Many of the cricket stadia were being used either as warm-up venues or for hosting matches for the Cricket World Cup, and these were of good quality, and frequently situated in beautiful surroundings. As well as cricket, other venues visited offered facilities for netball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, athletics and swimming, and we saw several astro-pitches for soccer, as well as several multi-sport venues.
Between us, we looked at a wide range of accommodation across all the islands, some of which we use already and others that we would consider using in the future. The facilities available within the hotels, as well as the entertainment available close by and the opportunities for sightseeing and excursions more than met our criteria.
Many of our ground handlers are ex-cricketers of international repute or are involved in an organisational capacity. Consequently, at the time of travel, one or two of them were engaged in activities pertaining to the Cricket World Cup. However, where our contacts were unavailable, we were able to meet with their colleagues. Catherine and I were both very confident that all our local handlers know exactly what we expect from them and are extremely competent when it comes to organising fixtures and looking after our tours on location.
