To liaise with soccer and lacrosse coaches in order to ascertain fixture suitability for next year's groups, as well as visiting some accommodation venues for suitability for next year's programme. I also met two potential local ground handlers as the current one is stepping down.
One of my tasks was to visit some of the accommodations used by students on tour. As such, I visited one or two hotels in San Francisco, Victoria University in Victoria, and the YWCA in Vancouver, all of which I found to be totally satisfactory, as well as visiting some of the sporting facilities used on tour. I also undertook a sightseeing tour of Vancouver to enable me to be able to suggest itineraries with more confidence.
I met up with Sharnbrook in Vancouver, one of the groups touring at the time, to generally see how their tour was progressing.
At the end of the trip, I travelled to Whistler to see what excursions and activities were available during the time not spent playing matches, and found there was plenty to do to keep even the most active visitors amused.
I now feel very confident when organising tours for Canada that I am better able to match teams competitively and that the accommodation I book is suitable. Finally, there is plenty of fun to be had in Vancouver and Whistler (see the destination section of this website) when not on the sports field.
